2022 Revision of Sewer Service Laterals for Residences and Buildings

NCWSA has released the 2022 Revision of Sewer Service Laterals for Residences and Buildings. This update outlines the policy change, effective March 1, 2021, in which customers became responsible for keeping their building sewer lateral clear of blockages—from the structure all the way to the sewer tap.

This change encourages proper wastewater practices, as most sewer lateral blockages are caused by fats, oils, grease (FOG), rags, and wipes that should never be put down drains or toilets.
